Trying to understand the spiraling way my brain works is a scary thing, but here’s a rough path: I was thinking about possible jobs, then I thought about where I would live if I had those jobs, which led me to contemplating the parks near those neighborhoods where I could go running if I lived there. But then I realized that I didn’t have to live near those parks to go running there. Seattle has so many amazing parks (or so I hear), but I have visited very few of them.
I don’t really do New Year’s Resolutions in general, but the new year is a good time to start fresh on things. I decided I would strive in 2015 to run in as many parks as I can. I started out intending to run in every Seattle park, but when I looked up the list of parks, I found out there are more than 400 of them. I eliminated ones like boat ramps, but the list still wasn’t manageable. Finally, I sorted the list by size and figured I would start with the biggest parks and just see how many I could do. After all, I don’t get any kind of prize for this endeavor. It is just a way to motivate myself to go running, explore my city, and write about it.
